Casey McGowan – Law Clerk

Casey E. McGowan is a proud Tennessean. Born in Antioch, Tennessee, Casey moved to Memphis at the age of 12. She received her BA from Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University in 2019. She received her law degree as well as her Master’s in Restorative Justice from Vermont Law School. Her law research on the intersection of child welfare, school discipline, and police use of force on children has been published in “The Guardian” as part of the National Association of Counsel for Children (NACC) Next Generation News. While in law school, Casey interned at the Missouri Public Defenders  (St. Joseph Office), the Dekalb County Child Advocacy Center, the Dekalb County Public Defenders, and the Georgia Public Defenders Council. After graduating from law school, Casey returned to her home state to join the Nashville Defenders.
